How can I help?
I am here to listen, to really hear your story and feedback what you have told me in an objective way.
I want to help you find clearer routes through that forest of feelings. I want to reconnect you to your resources and strengths and work with you to find solutions.
I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all treatment, I have trained in the same therapies that I experienced myself when I needed a helping hand and have found that a blend of therapy styles and modalities is the best way to find the solutions to suit the individual.
I follow a solution focused approach as research has shown that this is a very effective form of therapy.
I don’t use scripts during the hypnosis and no two sessions are the same. My aim is to work with the individual and the issues that come up during the session.
I will follow up your session with email support and suggestions as well as check in with you by phone as and when needed, and agreed by us together. I often set tasks to further embed any shifts that you have made in the session, this kind of work is a collaboration between you and me and I really want you to commit to the changes you want to make and your investment in the sessions.
No swinging watches or clicking of the fingers to snap you
into a trance and make you dance like a chicken here….
You know that feeling... when you are completely absorbed in something creative, or have driven to a familiar location on auto pilot not remembering the journey, listening to a favourite piece of music and reminiscing on a particular memory it evokes or even just daydreaming whilst doing the washing up….these are trance states, the space in our mind where we dream, where we complete the loop, process information feelings and thoughts.
Naturally we slip in and out of trance throughout the day which enables our sub conscious to sift through the huge amount of data we encounter and absorb, matching patterns to information that we already have stored in the data centre of our subconcious.
At night during the dreaming phase of our sleep cycle, the REM state, we continue this processing. Trance can be a calming processing time and a flow state where we perform actions without needing to think about what we are doing, athletes, actors, surgeons, chefs all do this for example. Anger and stress are the negative sides of the trance state but all part of our humanity.
It is here in this trance state that change can take place, we can appeal to the subconscious and the patterns which have been created, dissolve old neural pathways in the brain and form positive new ones.
Hypnosis is safe and deeply relaxing. I guide you into the trance state with guided imagery, hypnotic language and breathing techniques – all designed to relax you and take you to that day dreaming place feeling safe and calm. You are in complete control the whole time. I won’t ask you to speak at all during the hypnosis part of the session (its not like in the movies!), however some techniques may require you to nod or lift a finger to acknowledge that you understand what I am asking you to visualise.
“You use hypnosis not as a cure but as a means of establishing a favorable
climate in which to learn.”
SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY
What would it be like if you woke up tomorrow
and the issue that has been troubling you was gone?
Who would notice the changes in you?
Our imagination is a powerful tool. We frequently use it to imagine the worst-case scenario and how things might go wrong but what if we used it to imagine and believe how things could go right?
At the beginning of any session with a client I spend time finding about resources, about the times when this issue hasn’t bothered you, what may have helped in the past, and exceptions, the times when you haven’t felt like that. My aim is to help you see how things can be different and rehearse preferred behaviours. We focus on the future rather than rake up the past.
EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)
"The Cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system"
Gary Craig, founder of EFT
EFT is a hands on technique that has been likened to acupuncture without needles. We access the major meridians in the body by tapping on the points with our hands, and this allows us to literally tap into the root of issues in a safe gentle way, desensitizing stressful events and triggers which normalises our responses and allows us to acknowledge and accept them.
